The 2013 Mazda CX-9 offers three rows of seats and a large interior space for 7 passengers, all wrapped up with a luxury SUV which is fun to drive. Powered by a 3.7L V6 Mazda engine with efficient fuel mileage.
The Mazda CX-9 is a full-size crossover SUV, the largest of the Mazda SUVs after the Mazda CX-7, replacing the Mazda MPV minivan for Canada. The Mazda CX-9 was launched at the New York International Auto Show in 2006 and was available for sale in Canada in February 2007. Built on the Ford CD3 platform, the same platform used by the Mazda 6, Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX SUV.
The Mazda CX-9 shares a similar design with the smaller Mazda CX-7, however it doesn't share any platform components. The CX-9 is a front-wheel drive SUV with an optional All-wheel drive system. The 2007 Mazda CX-9 was equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine, in 2008 it was upgraded to a
3.7L V6 with 273HP, also shared with the Ford Edge, Lincoln MKZ and the newly designed 2011 Ford Explorer.
The 2008 Mazda CX-9 also included a few more safety features like a Blind Spot Monitoring System, and Backup Camera System mounted on the rearview mirror and a blind spot warning detector. In 2008 it was awarded the "Motor Trend SUV of the Year" award, beating out the Buick Enclave and Nissan Rogue, it went on to win the North American Truck of the Year award at the Detroit Auto Show in 2008.
The 2010 Mazda CX-9 had a slight face lift with minor grill changes which debuted at the 2009 New York Auto Show.
